Whitby is the quintessential fishing village, where red tiled rooftops tumble down the steep sides of the Esk estuary to the pretty harbour below. For walkers, the cottage has many walks that can be taken from the front door. It is also close to the Cleveland Way, the Coast to Coast walk and of course numerous walks in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

For explorers, a short drive or steam train ride will transport you to the very heart of Heartbeat country in the North York Moors, with its many wonderful pubs, walks, attractions and trips down memory lane. Likewise the awe-inspiring, natural amphitheatre of the Hole of Horcum is just 15 minutes away, whilst the pretty market town of Pickering lies just beyond, a 30 minute drive inland.
