Ruswarp is a pretty little village a mile inland from Whitby on the banks of the River Esk. Ruswarp itself has plenty to offer. Rowing boats can be hired on the river and fishing permits can be obtained from the same location. Opposite the boats you will find indoor and outdoor fun for children of all ages. The newly opened Mini Monsters is an indoor soft play area with cafe and ceramics studio for 0-12 year olds. For sunny days there is crazy golf, a children's play area and 9 hole golf course. Further up the road towards Sleights there is a miniature steam railway with an area for picnics.
Ruswarp also benefits from having a railway station that provides scenic trips into Whitby and inland up the Esk Valley. Steam trains also travel along the line throughout the year linking the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and Whitby. To feel like one of The Railway Children head for the station platform and be waved at by the Train Driver together with all the day trippers!
